people to thank. I will start with all you shooters, without you, it
could not have been such a great success. Judy (Pecan
Meadow Sporting Center), you and your staff really know how to run a
first class operation. Jim Ponder, you are the man. Thank you
for donating half your winnings back to the kids. Adam, you are
really making a name for yourself for setting targets. I heard
nothing but good things about the course. Johnny Zetik, thank you
for helping me sell tickets for the cart. You took vacation time to
help me out. That's a true friend. Angel, thank you for
handing me a beer just in time for me to get the lump out of my throat at
the presentations. Last year we raised and donated $10,000 to the
Friends In Deed. After all expenses are paid out, this year we will
be donating a grand total of $15,000. All of you involved will, and
have, made a difference in many children's well being. Thank you
again and may all of you have a safe and happy holiday. [P-nut Krenek]

Loftin Memorial Tournament
Raises $10,000 for "Friends in Deed"

LIBERTY - The Annual
Sonny Loftin Memorial Sporting Clay Tournament, held Sunday, Dec. 3, at
Pecan Meadow Sporting Center in Hardin, has once again made a huge
impact on underprivileged and needy children in this area.

E-Z-GO Workhorse donated by
Liberty Golf Cars owner P-nut Krenek
Local businessman P-nut
Krenek said the tournament donated $10,000 toward the "Friends in Deed"
organization, which works with the Liberty ISD to meet the needs of
children and is comprised of teachers, parents and other interested
individuals. Krenek said the organization would provide food baskets,
clothing, coats, jackets, shoes, quilts and other items to needy
children during the Christmas season.
The children are selected
by the teachers, counselors and other school personnel, all of whom are
in daily contact with the students through the Liberty Elementary, San
Jacinto Elementary and Liberty Middle School campuses.
The tournament, which was fully
sanctioned by the National Sporting Clays Association, was sponsored by
Liberty Golf Cars. The majority of sponsors are from the Liberty area
and, Krenek said everyone who entered the tournament was asked to donate
$100.00 for their entry fee towards the project.

"This is what Christmas
is all about," Krenek said. "We take so many things for granted in the
world today. You should see the faces of the children when they receive
these gifts."
Krenek said this
tournament drew 121 shooters, lots of them from as far away as Houston
and Shreveport.
The tournament dates back
five years and has raised over $50,000 during the previous tournaments.
Krenek said he wanted to personally thank the sponsors and shooters for
making the tournament possible and especially Pecan Meadow Sporting
Center for hosting the event.

Drawing for E-Z-Go Workhorse
Won by Stan Faison who generously
donated it back for auction.
The tournament honors the
memory of the late Judge William E. "Sonny" Loftin, who was killed in a
June 27, 2004 traffic accident near San Antonio. Sonny served as
municipal court judge for the City of Liberty for almost 28 years and
was Precinct I
Justice of the Peace for 16 years. The event was renamed in Loftin's
memory after his death.
